What is Homeopathy?homeopathy

Homeopathy is a system of Western medicine which is over 200 years old. Its principles can be found in the writings of historical thinkers, such as Hippocrates, Paracelsus and Goethe. It is a gentle form of medicine which works with the body’s innate healing capacity to promote health and provide a healthier lifestyle.

Homeopathic remedies are created from the plant, mineral and animal kingdoms and then potentised by sequential dilution. The remedies are carefully selected and prescribed for each individual, dependent on the ailment. As well as physical ailments, low energy or a sense of reduced well-being is a sure sign that the body is not fully well. Life style, diet, emotional upset or stress and other factors also affect us. Because homeopathy is a holistic approach, all these aspects are taken into consideration. The gentle action of homeopathy makes it suitable for everyone including children and babies, adolescents, pregnant women and the elderly.

What can I expect from a session?

In the initial consultation, the homoeopath will take your medical history; enquire about your diet, lifestyle and any medication you may be taking; and listen to you and your symptoms. This is an in depth consultation and can last up to two hours (up to one hour for children). The homeopath will then use this information to select a homeopathic remedy for you from the wide range of homeopathic medicines available in their practice. You can then make a follow-up appointment to discuss your progress and report on changes to your health. A homeopathic remedy could provide results within a few days depending on the depth and severity of the ailment.
