Counselling

What is Counselling?therapy

Counselling is a talking therapy which involves talking to a practitioner about your problems. Counsellors are trained to listen sympathetically and help you deal with negative thoughts or feelings. The term ‘counselling’ is sometimes used to refer to all kinds of talking therapies, but it is also a therapy in itself. Usually undertaken on a short-term basis, counselling is often designed to help you deal with a specific problem.

What can I expect from a session?

During a counselling session, you will be able to discuss your problems with a trained practitioner, who will give you space to talk through the issues which are affecting your life. Sessions are usually around 50 minutes long.

Counselling can provide a valuable space to discuss your feelings which friends and family may not be able to provide. The exploration of the issues, coupled with attentive and non-judgemental listening from an impartial person, will allow you to free yourself of negative patterns of thought and move on with your life.
